Camp Cahinnio is an ACA camp! |
|
In order to gain and maintain American Camp Association (ACA)
accreditation, Camp Cahinnio must regularly undergo an extensive audit of
its entire operation, requiring the camp to meet up to 300 health and
safety standards in areas ranging from staff qualifications and training
to emergency management. ACA standards generally go above and beyond what
is required by the law, and participation in the ACA accreditation
process is voluntary.
ACA collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics,
the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that
current practices at camps reflect the most up-to-date, research-based
standards in camp operations. Camp Cahinnio and ACA form a partnership
that promotes summers of growth and fun in an environment committed to
safety.
Camp Cahinnio gained American Camp Association accreditation in 1991 and
has successfully maintained accreditation ever since! Camp Cahinnio’s
most recent ACA standards review was conducted in the summer of 2007.
While no accreditation process, licensing program, or set of regulations
or laws can guarantee safety, accreditation is the best evidence for
parents that a camp is committed to providing a safe and nurturing
environment for their children.
